This year 661 students from Catholic schools across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains stepped up to take the Executive Director’s Summer Reading Challenge! In January, eight boys from Year 11 and 12 participated in the Australian Space Design Competition. After powering through the qualifying round, the team earned a place in the National finals, tasked with the design of a research settlement on Mars, capable of providing infrastructure for future human exploration and planetary expansion. Any decisions about who can attend the funeral is ultimately a decision for the McMahon family, who have the very difficult task of finalising the list of attendees. Yesterday, we recognised our 43 high achievers from the Class of 2020 and congratulate them all on their outstanding HSC results. Our School Dux for 2020 Nash Hawkins (pictured) addressed the assembly with warmth, highlighting the respect, hard work & dedication the students, parents & teachers had shown in what was a challenging year for all. Following on from our news item in December 2020 about some of our Year 10 students presenting to the United Nations for the Universal Periodic Review of Australia’s human rights record, the students have put together a series of recommendations on the topics of climate change, asylum seekers/refugees and domestic violence. The boys presented their findings via Zoom to the Permanent Missions in Geneva, Switzerland of twelve UN member countries. We are proud to advise that from these countries, 15 recommendations on these issues were formally made to the Australian government during the UN proceedings. Read More...

The results of the 2020 cohort in the HSC exams are testament to the hard work, dedication and collaboration between themselves and their teachers. At the beginning of the year, a target of 200 Band 6s for the 200th year of the school was set for the boys. Whilst COVID intervened, the HSC class did amazingly well and, despite falling just short of this target, acquitted themselves exceptionally well! It is also important to note that a number of students successfully pursued a vocational pathway with every student achieving ALL their competencies and desired level of certification (most of whom have achieved between 4 and 6 nationally recognised certifications).
